An estimated half a million small and medium sized businesses in the UK have been the victims of impersonation fraud, with law firms the most susceptible. And such scams are on the rise with research from Lloyds Bank suggesting there has been a 58% rise in reported fraud, with the true figure likely to be much higher. Fraudsters use personal information from suppliers to deceive firms out of money costing an average £27,000. HR professionals, IT workers and finance companies are also likely to be affected.
