Britain has a proud heritage of entrepreneurs with self-employment at an all-time high. But research shows that the UK is lagging behind other countries in the entrepreneurial league table, sitting in 24th place behind the likes of Denmark, Slovenia, Ireland and Greece. Some potential business people name financial insecurity and lack of business knowledge as key deterrents for going it alone but 7 in 10 Britons say fear of failure is stopping them from attempting to be an entrepreneur.
