HMRC provides guidance on offshore tax evasion. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued a document describing three new criminal offences relating to offshore income, assets and activities introduced by the Finance Act 2016 s.166. The guidance states that it’s a criminal offence if a taxpayer fails to notify HMRC of chargeability to income tax or capital gains tax, failing to deliver a tax return before the end of a withdrawal period, and prove a return containing an inaccuracy.
