Graduates will be better off next year because the amount they can earn before making repayments to their student loans will increase from 6 April 2019, the Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed. Graduates only start to repay their debts when they reach a certain income threshold with Plan 1 currently standing at £18,330 but this figure will rise to £18,935. Plan 2 will increase to £25,725 from £25,000. Earnings above these figure will be calculated at 9%.
